Mount Cotton

Mt Cotton covers a large area but only has a population of less than 7,000 as it is known mainly as a rural destination and more recently comprises Treeline developments.

The area was colonised by Germans in the late 1860s and created an idyllic rural community. In the 20th century, poultry farms were established and in recent years the number of residential sub-developments has expanded but it is still mainly rural. Mount Cotton is also home to the famous Sirromet Winery with wedding venues, Day on the Green concerts and glamping facilities.

Transport

Mount Cotton is 32km southeast of Brisbane CBD and is bounded by the suburbs of Daisy Hill, Sheldon, Victoria Point, Carbrook. There is easy access to the M1 motorway which can quickly take you North to Brisbane CBD and South to the Gold Coast. It is also a gateway suburb to the many great benefits of the Redland Bay region.

Very much regarded as an idyllic rural community with plenty of access to nature reserves and walking and mountain bike trails, you will see plenty of wallabies and horse riding in the area. The suburb isn't known as an entertainment area but is known for quiet peaceful living.

Mount Cotton is a rural-based locality so the majority of the housing is acreage based with a number of prestigious homes being available. The newer developments contain mainly modern 4 and 5 bedroom properties whilst keeping the treeline landscapes.

Education

Mt Cotton offers a number of quality schools, with additional private schools nearby. Early learning centres are also available in the area. Schools include - Mount Cotton State School, Victoria Point State High School, Faith Lutheran College, St Edward the Confessor School and Calvary Christian College.
